José Renato Haas Ornelas was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil , in 1972. He holds a PhD in Business Administration and Management from Bocconi University, Italy . He has also obtained a Master degree in Business Economics from Catholic University of Brasilia, a MBA in Finance from Ibmec, a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from PUC-RJ and a Bachelor Degree in Computer Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He works for the Central Bank of Brazil since 1998. For 6 years, he had worked in the department responsible for the management of the country’s international reserves. After having completed his PhD in 2006, he joined the Office for Monetary Policy Integrated Risk Management as deputy advisor, with functions in risk management, performance evaluation and strategic asset allocation. He started his career with an internship at IBM-Brasil and then worked for almost 3 years for a small Brazilian investment bank, as equity derivative trader and also on middle-office functions. He has published articles on top Brazilian Journals, and some international journals. His research topics include Risk Management, Performance Measurement, Asset Allocation, Option Pricing and Behavioral Finance.
